Dear All:

The JAMES H. LIGHTBOURNE, JR. SCHOLARSHIP FORMS were received yesterday. I have
five of the scholarship applications.

This scholarship was established to assist needy and deserving high school graduates
and college students who are members of the United Church of Christ in the Southern
Conference to achieve their educational goals.

The deadline for all applications is MARCH 10 of each year.

Applications must include an official copy of grades/transcript..

Each scholarship recipient must be a member of a church in the United Church of Christ,
Southern Conference and enrolled for the coming fall as an undergraduate in a college,
community college, or technical school. Any student, who received the Lightbourne
Scholarship for the 2009-2010 school years and is still eligible, must submit a written
request for renewal AND THE MOST RECENT copy of his/her college transcript.

If you have graduating high school students, or college students, in your church that
could possibly benefit from this fund, please encourage them to seek information
and/or obtain applications from me, OR FROM THE CONFERENCE/ASSOCIATION OFFICE.
(Get a copy of these forms to give out to INTERESTED students in your church. You
may also give copies to the guidance counselors in local high schools, (and colleges)
IF THERE ARE STUDENTS THAT ARE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST,
SOUTHERN CONFERENCE.)

The Outreach Committee will have a box in the narthex to begin collecting canned goods and dry foods to donate to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. Food will be collected until Sunday, November 22nd. You can also make a monetary contribution. Gregory Church is among the listed churches that support Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. Please make a food contribution to help feed God’s people in our community.
